How It Works
Drag a PDF onto the panel or click Open PDF. Thumbnails of every page appear as they render, and a five-page sample document is already loaded so you can try the controls first.
Click thumbnails to pick pages, or type a range like 1-3, 7 in the field. The grid and the field always match, so you can start with either one and shift-click to take a whole run.
Extract gives you one PDF of the pages you chose. Split makes several files, one per page or at your own cut points. Delete removes the pages and hands back the rest. Then download, or publish a share page with the list.
About This Tool

This tool does the three things people mean when they say they need to split a PDF. Extract builds one new PDF from the pages you pick, in the order you pick them, which is how you turn a 40-page report into the four pages someone actually asked for. Split breaks the document into several files: one per page, at cut points you choose, or in fixed groups of two, five or ten pages. Delete removes the pages you select and gives you back everything else as a single file.
Most people who need to extract pages from a PDF are not developers. They have a scanned contract where only the signature page matters, a bank statement with two months in one file, a course handbook someone wants split by chapter, or a 60-page export from a design tool that has to go out as separate chapters. Nothing here asks you to install software or create an account: open the file, click the pages, download the result.
Two libraries run inside your browser. Mozilla's pdf.js draws each page as a thumbnail so you can see what you are choosing, and pdf-lib copies the pages you selected into a brand new document. Your file never travels to a server - the page grid, the page count and the finished PDFs are all made on your own device, which is why this works on a plane and why a confidential document stays confidential. Pages are copied whole, not re-rendered, so text stays selectable, fonts and images are untouched and the quality is identical to the original.
Files download one at a time. There is no zip, on purpose: adding an archive library would make the page heavier for everyone to save a step that most people only need once. If you split a long document into many files, your browser may ask permission to save several downloads in a row - allow it. Password-protected PDFs cannot be edited here; remove the password in your usual reader first. Thumbnails stop rendering after page 200 on very long documents, though those pages can still be selected by number and separate exactly the same way. Need the opposite job? The PDFs themselves are downloads, so Publish A Share Page puts up a small web page listing what came out of the document: the file names, how many pages are in each, and which pages they were.
