How It Works
Pick Link, Text, WhatsApp, Wi-Fi or Email and fill in the fields. The code redraws as you type, and the exact text it encodes is shown underneath it.
Open Options to pick the PNG size, the error correction level, the margin and the two colours, or make the background transparent. A warning appears if the colours are too close to scan.
Download the code as PNG for screens or SVG for print, copy the encoded text, or publish a printable page with the code and its link on a free live address.
About This Tool
Link, text, WhatsApp chat, Wi-Fi login or email, as a clean PNG or SVG, with no watermark and no expiry.
This free QR code generator turns whatever you type into a code a phone camera can read. Paste a URL to get a website QR code for a menu, a poster or a business card; type a message for a plain text code; enter a number and a greeting for a WhatsApp QR code that opens a chat with the message already written; put in your network name and password for a Wi-Fi QR code guests can scan instead of typing; or set up an email address with a subject line. Every code is drawn on the spot and can be downloaded as a PNG or an SVG.
Most people who need a QR code for a website are not designers. They have a page - one they built, one ChatGPT or Claude wrote for them, one a freelancer handed over - and they want to put it on something physical: a table tent, a flyer, a shop window, the back of a product. Others want a Wi-Fi code for the guest room or a WhatsApp code for a stall. The tool asks for the one or two things it needs, draws the code, and gets out of the way.
The code is generated in your browser with a small open-source library; nothing you type is sent anywhere until you click Publish. Converting a URL to a QR code is a matter of encoding the text as a grid of squares plus some redundancy, and the Options popover exposes the parts that matter. Size sets the PNG width (the SVG scales to any size). Error correction decides how much of the code can be dirty, torn or covered and still scan: L survives about 7 percent damage, M about 15, Q about 25 and H about 30, with each step making the code a little denser. Margin is the quiet zone around the code that scanners use to find it; keep at least one module unless the code sits on plain white already. The two colour pickers and the transparent option handle branding, and a contrast warning tells you when a colour pair will not scan.
These are static codes: the link or text is baked into the pattern, so it works forever and needs no account, but it cannot be edited afterwards. A QR code holds a few thousand characters at most, and long text makes a dense code that small prints struggle with, so keep links short. Very light foregrounds and dark backgrounds do not scan reliably on most phones. For a WhatsApp button on the page itself rather than a code, use the WhatsApp Button Generator; to check the page the code points at, open it in the HTML Viewer.
The Publish button makes a printable page with the code in the middle, the link underneath and a "Scan to open" line, on a free OxyPages address with HTTPS in seconds - no account needed. The link lasts 30 minutes unless you claim it, and claiming is free; from there you can choose your own address and, on a paid plan, connect a custom domain. If you want a code you can change later, point it at a page you host on OxyPages and edit the page instead of the code. See how it works.
