How It Works

How To Use The Meta Tag Generator

  1. 1

    Fill In The Page Details

Type the title, description, canonical URL, site name and share image. The counters warn you when a title passes 60 characters or a description passes 155.

  2. 2

    Check The Previews

The Google result, the Facebook and LinkedIn card and the WhatsApp and X card update as you type. Switch to Code to see the generated head tags.

  3. 3

Copy The Tags Or Publish A Demo

Copy the tags into the head of your page, download them as meta-tags.html, or publish a one-page demo whose link unfurls with these tags when shared.

About This Tool

See Your Share Card Before Anyone Else Does

A meta tag generator that shows the Google result and the social cards while you type, then hands you the head tags to paste.

Every link you share is judged by a handful of lines in the <head> of the page: the title and description Google shows, and the Open Graph and Twitter card tags that Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack and X read to build the preview card. This meta tag generator writes those lines for you. Fill in the form on the left and the right side shows how the page will look as a search result and as a share card, so you can fix a title that gets cut off or an image that does not load before the page is live.

Who It Is For

Most people arriving here are holding a page they did not write from scratch: HTML from ChatGPT or Claude, an export from a design tool, a template from a course, a one-pager a freelancer handed over. Those pages usually have a <title> and nothing else, which is why the link looks bare when you paste it into a chat. The same goes for a small-business site whose home page should show a proper card with the shop name, one good photo and a sentence that makes people tap. If you have ever searched for an Open Graph generator or a Twitter card generator, this is the same job with the previews built in.

How It Works

Everything runs in your browser. The form fields are turned into tags as you type: charset and viewport, the title and description, the canonical link, robots, theme colour and author, then the og: family and the twitter: family, each emitted only when its field has a value. Values are escaped for attributes, so an ampersand in a shop name or a quote in a description cannot break the tag. The previews draw the Google result and the social cards from the same values, and the image area actually requests your image URL, which is the one thing that leaves the browser before you publish. Nothing is stored.

Limits

The previews are styled approximations, not screenshots of each network, and every platform truncates at its own width and refreshes its cache on its own schedule. The counters measure characters; Google measures pixels, so a title full of wide letters can be cut a little earlier than the counter suggests. The tool writes the SEO meta tags a page needs to be found and shared; it does not add structured data, hreflang or favicons. To check the page itself, paste it into the HTML Viewer, and if the head is hard to read after pasting, the HTML Formatter will tidy it.

Then Put It Online

Share cards only exist on a live URL, because the networks fetch the page to build them. The Publish button puts a one-page demo with these tags in its head on a free OxyPages link with HTTPS in a few seconds, no account needed, so you can paste the link into WhatsApp or Slack and see the real card. The link lasts 30 minutes unless you claim it, and claiming is free; from there you can upload the full site, choose your own address and, on a paid plan, connect a custom domain. Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Keep the title under about 60 characters and the description under about 155. Google truncates by pixel width rather than by character count, so those numbers are a guide, not a rule, and the counters in the form turn amber when you pass them.
