How Do Team Members And Permissions Work?

Team members are invited from your Profile's Team tab and get scoped permissions across your whole account - creating, managing or deleting websites, managing DNS, buying or transferring domains, finance and affiliate access. Seats follow your plan: 1 on Starter, 3 on Growth, 5 on Pro, 10 on Agency; the Free plan has none.

Paid plans · Updated

Team members are people with access across your whole account, each with the permissions you choose. Invite them by email from the Team tab on your Profile page. The invite is valid for 14 days and can only be accepted by an account signed in with that email.

The Permissions

You grant each team member any mix of:

  • Create websites
  • Manage websites - this makes them a manager of every website on your account: publishing, files, media, forms, settings and the rest
  • Delete websites
  • Manage DNS
  • Buy domains
  • Transfer domains
  • Finance
  • Affiliate

You can change or revoke a member's permissions at any time from the same Team tab, and a member can leave your account themselves.

Who Pays For What

Purchases belong to the account owner, with one exception: a teammate with the buy-domains permission can register a domain into your account, paying with their own card at checkout. The domain belongs to the account, and its renewals bill the owner's card on file.

AI credits are workspace-based: a teammate working in your workspace spends your account's credit pool, and the credit ledger records who spent each credit. Anyone working in their own workspace spends their own.

Team Member Or Collaborator?

A team member spans the whole account; a collaborator is scoped to one website. For a client or outside helper on a single site, a collaborator is usually the better fit - see the collaborator article.
