How Do Website Statistics Work?

Every website, on every plan, has a Statistics page showing its traffic: total views, unique visitors, a views-by-day chart, and breakdowns of top pages, countries, referrers, devices, operating systems and browsers. You can view today, yesterday, the last 7, 30 or 90 days, or this month. Statistics update every hour.

What Is Counted

A view is a real page load: an actual browser requesting one of your HTML pages. Counting happens on OxyPages' servers while the page is served, so there is no tracking script on your site and no cookies - nothing for a visitor to consent to, and ad blockers cannot hide visitors from you.

Not counted:

• Bots and crawlers, including search engines and AI crawlers
• Requests for assets - images, CSS, JavaScript
• Anything that does not look like a person's browser opening a page

Unique visitors are counted per day without storing anyone's IP address. A person who visits on three different days counts as three visitors over that range.

Why The Numbers Differ From Google Analytics

Google Analytics runs a script in the visitor's browser, so it misses everyone using an ad blocker and counts by its own session rules. OxyPages counts on the server, misses nobody with an ad blocker, and strips bots out. Neither number is wrong - they measure differently. Expect them to disagree.

Retention And Bandwidth

Statistics cover the last 90 days. Bandwidth shown on the page is informational - traffic is unlimited on every plan, with fair use applying.
