Convert Any Image To WebP: PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, AVIF Or SVG

This image to WebP converter takes the pictures you already have and re-encodes them in the format browsers prefer. How It Works

Everything runs in your browser with the Canvas API. Each file is decoded with createImageBitmap, which also applies the EXIF rotation stored in phone photos, drawn onto a canvas, and encoded with the browser's own WebP encoder at the quality you chose. SVG files are rasterised through an image element at their intrinsic size. Files convert one at a time so a large batch does not exhaust memory, and moving the slider re-converts the list after a short pause. Nothing is uploaded: the only network request this page makes is when you click Publish.

Transparency survives, because WebP has an alpha channel. Metadata does not: re-encoding through a canvas drops EXIF, GPS coordinates and colour profiles, which is usually what you want for a public web page. Limits

The converter can open any format your browser can decode, so GIF to WebP, BMP to WebP and AVIF to WebP all work in current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, but HEIC photos from an iPhone only open in Safari. Animated GIFs convert to a still of their first frame; animated WebP output is not something the canvas can produce.
